Charcuterie Boards have been around for hundreds of years and are used primarily as a serving tray for meats, cheeses, and bread. My Walnut board measures 13" long,  9" wide, and  a half inch thick. All edges are rounded over the surface is sanded smooth and mineral oil is applied.
